Generally, individuals with a disability that affects their mobility (or those who live with an individual with a disability that affects their mobility) will require a disabled bathroom.
This will come packed full of features, which we'll discuss below, that make bathrooms, well, accessible bathrooms.
If you are someone who just struggles with mobility, then our range of mobility bathrooms might be more suitable for you - please check out our other services or contact our specialist team today to decide what works for you.
Transform Your Bathroom with Bathroom Crew - Safe, Accessible, and Beautiful.
Disabled wet rooms are a different kettle of fish. A wet room is specifically designed so that there is no separate shower area. Everything in the room can get wet because the floor, walls, and ceiling are all waterproof thanks to wet room formers and other waterproofing methods.
This is sometimes easier for an individual with disabilities that may need space for side mobility partners to help whilst bathing. If a lot of space is required and further support like a wheelchair or mobility scooter is necessary, then a wet room may work better.
However, a disabled bathroom usually has separate areas for showering and bathing, which can certainly help when trying to keep things tidy, but this isn't always practical for the client. Deciding what is right is down to the individual and their needs.
When we install disabled bathrooms, there are a range of disabled bathroom products that our clients can choose from.
Not everything on the list below is necessary for every client. That's why here at Bathroom Crew, we're proud to offer a completely bespoke, customisable experience that means you can select the perfect practical bathing solutions FOR YOU.
We'll never try to influence your decisions, only ever give advice.
Here are just a set of options you can choose from when we carry out a disabled bathroom installation for you:
Choose Bathroom Crew for Professional Bathroom Installation Services and Experience Safety, Comfort, and Quality.
Your new bathroom installation could be just moments away, but maybe you'd like to know more about what we do when we carry out a bathroom installation so you know what to expect?
Well, here's everything you need to know:
Our first step is always an initial consultation. This is your opportunity to tell us:
Next, we'll decide whether a new bathroom is necessary, or if you can simply adapt your existing one to better suit your needs. Maybe you don't need to rip everything out and start again.
Many of our clients simply opt for more accessible features in their existing bathrooms to support them for now. Extra grab rails and disabled showers instead of your current bath, for example.
We'll talk about your options with you here, to help you decide which route is best for you and your needs.
Then we get to the fun bit: the design. We take you through every stage here at Bathroom Crew, including the design stage. That means we can help you decide on the final look of your bathroom - your tiling, your floor choices, and any decorative features you'd like to be included.
Once you've decided on the direction and all the disabled features you require, we can then source the materials and get ready for the next stage...
Installation will look different for every client. Sometimes we will need to entirely rip out your old bathroom before installing everything new from scratch. Other times, we can simply adapt your current bathroom with some new features that will make using it easier for you.
Whatever the case, we take care of everything from plumbing and wiring to fitting everything ourselves. We really do see you through every stage of the process here at Bathroom Crew...
The cost of an accessible bathroom will depend very much on a few different factors: size, layout, features, and whether we're adapting your old bathroom or completely remodelling it and starting from scratch.
We also posted a guide on “grants for disabled bathrooms” that may be of help.

It is generally recommended that disabled toilet doors open outwards to allow for easier access and manoeuvrability, especially for people who use mobility aids. If an outward-opening door is not practical, it is important to ensure that the door does not obstruct the space within the cubicle and that there is enough room for the user to manoeuvre.
A disabled toilet must have mandatory dimensions of at least 2200mm in length and 1500mm in width. Of course, these are only the bare minimum. Larger dimensions give a wheelchair user a larger turning circle, which provides more comfort.
There are several grants and funding options available in the UK to help cover the cost of a disabled bathroom installation, including the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG), Access to Work grant, charitable trusts, and local council funding. Eligibility criteria and funding available may vary depending on the specific grant or funding scheme.
